Connect to your server

To join, you need your server's address. It is shown in the game panel and you can copy it with one click.

Find your address

  1. Open your server in the panel. See Open the game panel.
  2. On the Console page, look at the SERVER ADDRESS card.
  3. Click Copy to copy the address. It is an IP address and port, or your own subdomain if you created one.

The server must be running before anyone can join. Press Start in the Console and wait until it finishes starting.

note

The first start of a Rust server downloads and installs Rust, so it can take several minutes. Wait until the console shows Server startup complete.

Minecraft Java Edition

  1. Start Minecraft Java Edition and choose Multiplayer.
  2. Click Add Server.
  3. Give it a name and paste the address from the SERVER ADDRESS card into the address field.
  4. Save, select the server in the list and join.

On a new Minecraft server, press Start and wait for Done in the console before you join. If you need a specific game version, see Minecraft versions.

Rust

  1. Start Rust and wait for the main menu.
  2. Press F1 to open the in-game console.
  3. Type client.connect followed by the address and port from the SERVER ADDRESS card, then press Enter. The command looks like client.connect address:port.

More details are in the Rust guide.

Use a subdomain instead of the IP

You can create a name such as yourname.srv.fenixhost.net so players do not have to remember an IP and port. Click Add a subdomain on the SERVER ADDRESS card, or go to Settings > Subdomain, enter 3 to 32 characters (lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens) and press Create. Then share the subdomain with your players. See Minecraft subdomain.

If you cannot connect

  • Check that the server is running in the Console.
  • Check that you copied the whole address, including the port when there is one.
  • Check that your game version matches the server version.
  • On a Minecraft server with a whitelist, make sure your name is on it.
