Create a subdomain
A subdomain is a short, memorable name for your server. Instead of asking players to type a string of numbers, you can give them an address such as myserver.srv.fenixhost.net. You create it from the panel, and players can connect with that name instead of the IP address.
Create one
- Open your server in the panel.
- Go to Settings in the SERVER group. You can also click Add a subdomain next to the address on the Console page; it takes you straight to the right place.
- Find the Subdomain section.
- Type the name you want in the box. The ending
.srv.fenixhost.netis added for you. - Click Create.
The name must follow these rules: 3-32 characters: lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens. No capitals, spaces, underscores or other symbols.
Good examples: survival, my-smp, play2. If the name is already used by someone else, pick another.
Connect with it
Tell your players to use the new name instead of the IP address:
- In Minecraft, go to Multiplayer.
- Click Add Server.
- Enter your address, for example
myserver.srv.fenixhost.net.
For the exact address to share, always check the SERVER ADDRESS card on the Console. Copy it with the Copy button. If the card shows a port after the address, players should include it too.
For other ways of joining and Bedrock details, see Connect to your server.
Network addresses in Settings
The Network section above the subdomain shows the IP ADDRESS and PORT of your server. One of them is marked Primary: that is the address players use. If your server has more than one, you can make another one primary with Make Primary.
Tips and common problems
- It does not connect. Check that the server is started on the Console, that the name is spelled correctly, and that the address matches the SERVER ADDRESS card. If it still fails, contact support.
- The name is rejected. Check the rules above, especially lowercase and length, or try a different name.
