Console

The Console is the home page of your server. From here you control the power of the server, copy the address players use, see how much it is working and talk to it through the live console.

Power buttons

At the top right of the page you will find the power buttons:

  • Start turns the server on. This is the only button you see while the server is offline.
  • Restart stops the server and starts it again. Use it after changing a config file, installing a plugin or changing a setting that says "restart the server to apply".
  • Stop shuts the server down in a clean way and saves your data.
  • Kill appears when stopping takes too long. It forces the server to end immediately, which can lose recent unsaved progress. Use it only when Stop has not worked after a minute or two.

The status next to the server name (for example Offline) updates as the server changes state.

note

The first start of a new server can take longer than usual because the game files are installed. Rust in particular can take several minutes. Wait until the console says the server is ready.

Server address

The SERVER ADDRESS card shows the address players type in their game, usually the IP address and the port.

  1. Click Copy to copy the address to your clipboard.
  2. Paste it into your game (see Connect to your server).

If you would rather share a name than numbers, click Add a subdomain. It takes you to Settings > Subdomain. See Settings or, for Minecraft, Minecraft subdomain.

Stats

Under the address card there is a row of live numbers: UPTIME, CPU, MEMORY, DISK and NETWORK. While the server is off they all read Offline.

  • UPTIME: how long the server has been running.
  • CPU: how much processor the server is using.
  • MEMORY: how much RAM it is using.
  • DISK: how much storage it is using. On plans with unmetered NVMe storage this shows Unmetered.
  • NETWORK: the traffic going in and out of the server.

A server that sits near the top of its memory is the usual reason for lag or crashes. If you are unsure what a number means, press Ctrl K and ask FenixAI for a check-up.

The live console

The Console box shows what the server prints, in real time. When the server is offline you will only see a line saying the server is marked as offline.

To send a command:

  1. Click in the command line at the bottom of the console box.
  2. Type the command and press Enter.

What you can type depends on the game. Examples:

  • Minecraft: say Hello, whitelist add PlayerName, op PlayerName, save-all.
  • Rust: status, say Hello, or oxide.reload PluginName when Oxide is enabled.

Click Fullscreen (top right of the console box) to make the console take the whole screen, which is handy when you are reading a long error.

Tips

  • Commands in the console do not need the leading slash that you use in the game chat.
  • To see older output, open the log files from Files (for example the logs folder on Minecraft).
  • When something goes wrong, copy the red or yellow lines around the first error. FenixAI can read them for you, and support will ask for them too.
  • Before big changes (a new version, a new plugin, a wipe) make a backup.
